Sony has confirmed that the PlayStation 4 will launch in India this year alongside Europe.
PlayStation India country manager told IVG that the console would arrive in India at most a month after European release, but would still make it here in this calendar year, perhaps indicating the heavily rumoured November release in Europe.
“It will be matched with the European launch; give or take a bit to account for Indian logistics. The consoles have to be shipped in advance and currently all consoles also require certification for the India market. In terms of targeting, we’re looking to synchronise with the European launch,” Bose said, adding, “That’s this year.”
The announcement comes as a big boost for the PS4 against the competing Xbox One, which as confirmed by Microsoft, will only officially arrive in India in late 2014.
Bose's comments were part of a larger video interview surrounding PlayStation in India, which you can watch here.
